Softball
Tournament great success
On Saturday June 8, 2002 a hard working team from Revenue Canada won the
third annual Golden Kiwanis charity softball tournament at the Ottawa
Business Park. The runners up were the Kiwanis Club of Rideau.
There were
seven teams this year including The Royal Bank, Salvation Army, John Howard
Society, Parkwood Presbyterian Church and Golden Opportunities for Youth.
A total of approx. $1,400 was raised and will go towards Kiwanis community
projects and programmes for youth at risk.
Once again,
corporations such as Coca Cola, Tim Hortons, Loebs, Ottawa Senators,
Famous Players, and the National Arts Centre assisted in a enourmous way
by donating food, refreshments and over 20 door prizes.
I
was really impressed by the sportmanship and professionalism which was
displayed by all teams, said tournament organizer George
Romas.
